Disruptive

Video mapping, 2014

Disruptive is a work group we put together for the class “Activism and New Media” in the Master in Visual Arts and Multimedia (Polytechnic University of Valencia).

We were instructed to create a video mapping for the festival “Cabanyal Intim”. The video would be projected in the façade of a traditional style building in the Cabanyal neighborhood in Valencia.

The motivation of the project was to protest against the calculated deterioration conducted by the local government and the subsequent gentrification the neighborhood suffered for many years.

We created a visual/sound narrative that uplifted the neighborhood, by using it’s visual attributes as inspiration, testimonies from neighbors, field recordings, etc.

Disruptive is Alex Garcia, Carlos Ortí, Julio Sosa, Germán Torres and Luis Urquieta.

Music was produced by me, with a fragment at 3:29 produced by Germán Torres.
